Can you believe ? I have a very small debut for SPX this weekend where I’ll be at the Paper Rocket @paperrobyn table (K8)! BOMPI BABY BOUNCY BUBBLE BUMPER #1 is significant because even though America’s Favorite Bouncy Boy has appeared in or on drawings, hats, shirts and buttons since 2010, this zine is the first collection of comics starring Bompi! Includes 6 little strips drawn in my @riteintherain pocket sketchbook and folds out into a new drawing of the classic Bompi Lullaby. SPX is also the “East Coast Debut” of LITTLE BROTHERS #666: ANDY GOES TO HELL and PETE & PRATT’S WACKY WESTERN DOUBLE DIGEST. What a great time at @cakechicago 2019! Thank you so much to all the kind and generous people who came by my table and the amazing organizers and volunteers who did not ask what is wrong with me when I took an embarrassingly long time to dismantle my setup. Special thanks to @paigemehrer and @kevinvqdam for tolerating my giant pile of inventory behind the table and navigating so nimbly around it when they needed to take a break, and biggest thanks to @the_stink_hole for assembling BOTH our files and the actual comics for “Pete & Pratt’s Wacky Western Double Digest” (and @perfectlyacceptable for great job printing em) and most of all @bennadlercomics and @netteboots for having me in their beautiful home. Another side project I’ve had at a couple shows but haven’t posted about is “COMICS BY A. T. PRATT 2018/2019”, a collection of these little mostly abstract stream-of-consciousness comics I started drawing usually on the train last year in my @riteintherain All Weather Notebook I keep in my back pocket. They’re printed in blue risograph in two versions of alternating orange/yellow or yellow/orange paper. I always want to do more abstract/experimental comics in addition to my story centric comics and my pop-up picture presentations so these have been a fun way to try and flex that muscle in my spare time.
